Wedding Flower Decoration Ideas for Mandap, Stage and Entrance

Flower-covered mandap canopy with crystal chandeliers

Flowers do more to set the mood of a wedding than almost anything else. The same venue can feel festive and traditional with marigold and roses, or soft and romantic with pastel blooms and white orchids. Here are ideas for each part of the wedding, and how to plan them so the florals look full without overwhelming the space.

Start with a colour palette, not a flower

Before choosing individual flowers, decide on two or three main colours and one accent. Look at your outfits, the venue walls and carpets, and the time of day. Warm yellows and oranges glow in daylight; whites, blush and peach look elegant under evening lighting. Once the palette is clear, the flowers almost choose themselves.

Mandap florals

The mandap is where the most important rituals happen, so it deserves the most detailed floral work. Popular approaches include:

  • Pillar wraps and corner arrangements — roses, carnations and greenery wrapped around the four pillars, with fuller arrangements at the base.
  • Floral canopy — a ceiling of hanging flowers or strings of jasmine and rajnigandha that frames the couple from above.
  • Marigold mandap — the classic, joyful choice for traditional ceremonies, especially in daylight.
  • Pastel mandap — blush roses, hydrangea-style clusters and white flowers for a softer, modern look.

Stage florals

The stage backdrop is photographed more than any other surface, so floral work here should be dense and textured. A full floral wall, a half-moon arch, or layered side arrangements with a fabric backdrop all work well. Keep the area directly behind the couple simple so faces stand out. Entrance and aisle

Floral arches, tunnels and lantern-lined walkways create a strong first impression. For the bride's entry, a phoolon ki chadar — a canopy of flowers carried by family members — remains one of the most memorable moments. Pathway arrangements at regular intervals make even a long walkway feel intentional.

Tables and centrepieces

For dining areas, keep centrepieces either low (so guests can talk across the table) or tall and slim. Roses with candles are timeless; mixed seasonal flowers in brass urlis suit a traditional reception.

Choosing the right flowers

  • Marigold — bright, festive, ideal for haldi, mehndi and daytime ceremonies.
  • Roses — versatile across colours and styles, from romantic to royal.
  • Jasmine and rajnigandha — fragrant and traditional, perfect for strings and hanging décor.
  • Orchids and lilies — elegant and long-lasting, great for luxury and modern designs.
  • Mixed florals — the most natural, garden-style look.

Fresh flowers can also be combined with artificial elements on large structures to manage the budget. Our floral decoration page covers the full range of flowers and floral elements we work with.
